  1. You know, I made chocolate pudding from scratch too. Pretty easy, actually, since I *did* have all the ingredients on hand. In fact, I think the ONLY time I buy pudding mix in a box is when I bake Sheila Cake (which is like, once a year, maybe). Does the DH remember Sheila Cake? yum yum yum.

  2. Probably the best way to go about thinking about this is to look at what you buy that has HFCS and whatever else you don’t want to feed your family, rather than looking at what you do make. If you can make a list of what you buy that you’re not happy with, then you can start evaluating if you can make a better version at home, substitute something else for it, or just put up with it because it can’t go out of the family diet at this point for whatever reason.

    But that’s great that you’re making as much as you do! I haven’t done any homemade cleaning products – it is something I’ve thought about experimenting with (beyond baking soda in the toilet and vinegar w/ water for cleaning windows), but haven’t gotten around to doing.
