  1. Marie’s hair looks great.

My daughter Madeline who is 14 wanted to cut her hair and I thought she was joking so said go ahead. She came out with a fringe way to short and the back a bit uneven. I was in shock. It was a great learning lesson for her though.

  2. You didn’t tell me Marie cut her hair!! Well, at least it was fixable and she didn’t cut it up to the scalp in front the way my oldest did. He looked goofy for months, that boy.

And despite the fact that I pooh-poohed the idea of renting Race to Witch Mountain, we really liked it, too. The now fifteen year old former goofy haircutter kept commenting that it was the ultimate in cheese, but we just told him to be quiet…over and over again …and we relished it for what it was– a good, fun family-friendly action flick.

  3. Aussie Therese, I remember the picture of your daughter’s hair!! Looks like the bobs are similar, doesn’t it?

Malia, she DID chop the front as well. The hairdresser did her best to cover it up with more bangs, but you can see what she cut. Now Reilly did the “all the way up to the scalp” trick, and I was FURIOUS with her! (I’m sorry, but at 10? She said that one section of hair was bothering her, but come on!!)

Beth, two of my girls have done this. The other two have managed to escape. Kathryn hopefully will never try this, and Grace is too little to think about it, yet. However, when Marie came home, she looked at her and said, “Ooh! Nice hawair, Mawie!”

  4. You’re right, Ouiz. I didn’t notice the bangs until after I posted. Ouch.

Out of curiosity, does she regret it? Or, like my Kate, will she do it again next month? 🙂

  5. Well, she cried an awful lot and told me how sorry she was… but she’s also gotten a lot of positive comments about her new haircut, so who knows? I’d like to THINK she’s learned from all of this, but I can’t assume she has.

Poor thing. She kept saying, “I just want my hair long again! I changed my mind!” Too bad real hair isn’t like that doll we used to play with in the 70s — just pull it out when you want it long again!
