  1. That sounds like fun, thanks for the recommendation. My daughter really enjoys Greek mythology and this looks like a neat take on the whole thing. Right now we’re reading through Classic Myths to Read Aloud (for the second time) and enjoying that a great deal.

  2. We’ve passed from ancient Greece to Rome and are listening to Roman Mysteries (or some such series by Carol Lawrence). There are at least 11 books in the series, but our library only has 4 on audio, so I’ve already ordered The Lightning Thief. I greatly prefer audio books (drive time or kitchen time for me) over “read aloud myself” books (fall asleep time for me).

I also appreciate getting a review of this type of book from someone whose children have not read Harry Potter! We are one of a very few families that I know who haven’t given them to ours. Well, we let our 15 yo read the first one last summer with my husband (I had read it long ago), and that was that for now.

    Thanks for the recommendation.
