What’s for dessert?

I can’t believe this. I actually took a picture of the pies (and cheesecake) that the kids and I made for Thanksgiving (just for our family scrapbook), and lo and behold, Faith & Family is having a pie picture contest!

Well, whatdya know about that?

So, here are the pies that we had for Thanksgiving dinner. (I was awfully proud of us because we actually made these the day before. I have never started baking the day before Thanksgiving… or any holiday, for that matter.. so I was feeling quite the accomplished homemaker.)

From the back:

#1: French apple pie — for my sweetie. It’s one of his favorites.

#2: Pumpkin pie — this was for Sean, who asked if we could make one from a real pumpkin (no canned stuff!) I’m not a fan of pumpkin pie, but the taste was much better than the ones I’ve tried before, so let’s hear it for making stuff from scratch!

#3: Chocolate Amaretto cheesecake — oh yeah, this one was for me. It is all that and a bag of (chocolate) chips, thank you very much.

  1. I only make this on super special occasions, because I am tempted to eat the whole thing myself! (thankfully, with 9 chocolate lovers in this family, there’s no way I’d be able to do that without a serious riot in this house!)
