Sacrificial love

Oh, you have no idea the wonderful blog posts I’ve written…

Unfortunately, I’ve forgotten them all.

I get these great topics going in my head, but by the time I actually have my hands free (as in, not nursing a sweet little baby), it’s either too late or I’ve completely forgotten it.

Sad. So sad.

I did, however, get a few hands-free moments to take some pictures of the little ways my kids are showing sacrificial love for the family…

I know, I know. You’re wondering, “what the heck am I looking at, and why does your back yard look so sad?” I can explain the first but, unfortunately, I have no excuse for the second. Believe me… it depresses me too…

But I digress.

Here above is a picture of Sean, who dropped what he was doing outside and very enthusiastically played with Marie — they were collecting various seeds from around the yard, and Marie thought having her big brother play with her was the greatest thing! I was just so touched that my 10 yr old son saw his 2 yr old sister’s need to have someone to talk to, and was willing to run around the yard with her, encouraging her as she went. He has no idea I even saw him doing this.

This pile of clothing was folded… WITHOUT prompting and totally with a servant’s heart… by my 8-yr old daughter Reilly. God bless her! She kept the laundry going through “the system.”

Marie took care of her baby sister so that I could get lunch made..

“And I slept all afternoon so Mommy could make everyone a nice dinner!”

I didn’t get pictures of them, but I don’t want to forget Kathryn, who scrubbed down the outside of the kitchen cabinets today… or Christopher, who was his little brother’s hero and brought him inside when he was afraid of the dog… or Thomas, who played “girl stuff” with Marie so I could nurse Grace and try to get her to go down for a nap.
